This Week's Program

Our program for this week was an update on the progress of the new Gavilan College campus in Hollister off Fairview Road.

Damon Felize showed slides of the construction progress and reviewed the time line.  The project is slated to be completed in the Fall of 2024 and the first classes will be in the Spring of 2025.  He said turn off lanes of off Fairview Road to enter the campus will be constructed to reduce traffic delays. Damon said the roof is being installed now and soon the metal studs will be installed in the interior. He showed a rendering of the completed project.

Serafin Fernandez updated the club on the campus naming survey currently being conducted.  The deadline is 3-31-2024.  The public is invited to submit names thru the website www.gavilanmeasurex.org.

In the Q&A session Serafin told us they have room and plans for expanding the campus and will assess that expansion after the first year of operations.

They plan to offer the same classes as the Gilroy campus.  The facility will have a total of 10 rooms: 4 classrooms, 4 laboratories, and 2 common rooms.  The common rooms will be available as public meeting rooms.

Serfin recognized one of our club members, Gordon Machado, as a member on the Oversite Committee for MeasureX. The committee oversees the funds for the new Gavilan campus.
